William works across the unholy trinity of TV drama, commercials and film. Which he started in earnest at the enviable age of 23 when he directed the 2012 Pepsi Super Bowl halftime commercial. Before later that year directing MisFits for E4. William being the youngest director of the show, notably William is the youngest director of the majority of the TV shows he’s directed. That is until recent productions, as he’s now in his mid-30’s and therefore getting on a bit.

Other interesting facts about William include the Cambridge University film festival being named after his second-year student film and his father being the Farmers Weekly Farm Manager of the Year 2022. William also once lost a Connect 4 rap battle on stage at a festival in front of an audience of 10,000 or so. But he doesn’t like to talk about it. He does however like to talk about the time he came runner-up in a truck-pulling relay and how he was supposedly quite good at rugby before his knees gave in.

But anyway, back to bussiness… William’s films and TV shows have won multiple BAFTAs and his adverts multiple Cannes Lions among other shiny things. Although he doesn’t have any Cannes Lions statues at home as they are like a grand each to buy for the winners, and that’s an absolute con.

William also likes trees, Thomas Hardy poems, Czech New Wave cinema, and the Gaelic language folk group The Gloaming. Which also happens to be his favourite time of day.

You can watch his debut feature film Gwen on Amazon Prime and most of his TV shows on Netflix. And as the streamers have started playing adverts, you can very likely see his commercials there too. Or on your phone if you happen to be multiscreening, as social media is all adverts and sponsored posts these days. Oh happy subsidised doomscrolling.

William is currently writing a number of film and TV scripts for various streamers, broadcasters, and studios. (When he isn’t perfecting his bio in the third person.)
